Barry Johnstone

CTV Outside Broadcasts, Managing Director

Barry Johnstone has been the managing director of CTV since 1981 when CTV was a fledgling post-production and studio facility. He was responsible for their move into the outside broadcast and play-out sectors in the mid-1980's. CTV was known then as Carlton TV and became one of the UK’s premier broadcast facilities provider.

In 1995, Johnstone bought the non-outside broadcast business from the parent company Carlton Communications and in 1996, re-entered the outside broadcast market place with a new fleet of digital trucks.

Johnstone served as CEO of the Euro Media Group from 2007 – 2010. He is currently the international director of EMG and the managing director of CTV Outside Broadcasts.

In December 2013, Johnstone was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
