Scott Warfield

NASCAR, Managing Director, Social Media

Scott Warfield is NASCAR's managing director of social media. In this role, Warfield leads all NASCAR social media efforts including the sport’s Fan and Media Engagement Center, a content development and strategy group, as well as a partner engagement discipline tasked with helping official partners drive ROI.

Warfield oversees a team responsible for the editorial direction, data analytics, and monetization strategy around NASCAR social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.

Warfield joined NASCAR in 2010 as the senior manager of broadcasting and entertainment communications and helped build the company’s new Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) division. Promoted to a senior leadership position within IMC, Warfield drove communications strategy and execution in support of NASCAR broadcasting, entertainment, digital media, and social media. In 2014, he was recognized as a PRWeek "40 Under 40" winner.

The following year, Warfield’s leadership and contributions to IMC were instrumental in NASCAR earning its first PRWeek In-House PR Team of the Year award.

Following NASCAR’s internal consolidation of social media and subsequent decision in 2015 to align the discipline alongside its brand marketing division, Warfield was promoted to managing director and tasked with growing the sport’s social media presence.

In Warfield’s first full year at the helm, NASCAR Social Media experienced across-the-board growth highlighted by NASCAR nearly doubling its engagement and increasing social impressions by 52 percent in 2015. He also revamped NASCAR’s strategic approach to Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and led the company’s launch onto Snapchat including a first-ever Live Story partnership in 2016.

Prior to joining NASCAR, Warfield ran Sports Biz Communications, a sports marketing agency he launched in 2009 with USF1 as his anchor client. Working closely with the U.S.-based Formula 1 team, Warfield supported every aspect of the startup business from social media and communications to marketing and business development.

Previously, Warfield was the director of advertising, marketing, and communications for Motorsports Authentics, a licensed merchandise company co-owned by Speedway Motorsports and International Speedway Corporation.

Warfield began his career as a staff writer for SportsBusiness Journal covering motorsports and Major League Soccer.

Warfield received a B.A. in journalism/media and economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A long-time little league coach, he resides in Charlotte, N.C. with his wife and two- year-old daughter.
